Flaxmere in midst of ‘alcohol holocaust’ – Hastings councillor

Flaxmere community leaders are pleading for the judiciary to draw a line in the sand around the harm caused by alcohol. Giving evidence before the Alcohol Regulatory and Licensing Authority, which will decide whether to renew Flaxmere Liquor's licence, Hastings District Councillor Henare O'Keefe and Kaumatua Des Ratima said most of the suburb's social ills are linked to alcohol abuse.
