Members of Whānau Ora have blasted the government at a hui in Hamilton on Monday, with some saying it's "totalitarian" and others calling out Māori MPs for not speaking out enough.
Whānau Ora is planning the terms of reference for a Māori independent inquiry into Oranga Tamariki, following what it says is "inaction" over the agency's practices around uplifting Māori children.
About 300 people were at Monday's hui - the second in just a few weeks.
RNZ reporter Andrew McRae was there.
