Sweltering dry temperatures and possible heatwave conditions are being forecast for much of the country in coming weeks.
The heatwave fuelling the devastating bushfires in Australia is drifting over the Tasman this weekend, and it's set to be a scorcher.
And according to NIWA, the record temperatures this month are an indication of climate change.
