NZ waits on Wednesday Covid-19 alert level decision

A testing spree in the wake of the Valentine's Day Covid outbreak has yet to turn up any other cases of the virus, but the government says it is still too soon to know whether the Auckland lockdown can be relaxed.

The restrictions were put in place for an initial 72 hours - set to expire at midnight Wednesday.

But that decision won't be finalised until Cabinet ministers meet on Wednesday afternoon, with an announcement scheduled for 4.30pm.
