More than half-a-million New South Wales residents have been urged to evacuate their homes, as river levels continue to rise.
NSW is being hit by broad areas of thunderstorms as a severe weather system continues to batter Australia's east coast, worsening the flood situation.
In Queensland, the flood-battered town of Grantham, west of Brisbane, and communities along the Logan River are also being evacuated as the rivers rises again.
Residents had only just returned to clean up after last weeks' flooding.
