Former All Blacks coach Wayne Smith has been named as the new coach of the Black Ferns, replacing Glenn Moore who resigned at the weekend.
Moore threw in the towel following a scathing review into the Black Ferns environment which was also highly critical of New Zealand Rugby and its resourcing of the side.
The Black Ferns, who will attempt to defend their World Cup title on home soil later this year, after they suffered four heavy defeats at the hands of England and France last November.
Wayne Smith says the team has some catching up to do.
