Cook Islands stray dogs shot by police amid spate of attacks

Police in the Cook Islands have resorted to shooting stray dogs, amid a spate of dog attacks on locals.

Thousands of unregistered animals are roaming freely, menacing and attacking people and livestock.

The SPCA is against the use of firearms, but are too under-resourced to provide a more humane alternative.
