A leaked independent report has painted a grim picture of Christchurch City Council and how it handled the Bromley stench.
A fire at a wastewater treatment plant in November 2021 caused a terrible smell, which made people in the surrounding suburbs sick, stained their homes black and corroded the metal on their cars.
But the council refused to acknowledge the extent of it for five months.
