Trees, bees and a nice cold cider, please

Jason Prior has hundreds of beehives in Manawatu and a nursery selling plants bees love. This year he'll plant 1000 cider apple trees with a view to planting thousands more and setting up a cidery. Each year he extracts up to 60 tonnes of honey of his own and between 150 and 300 tonnes for other beekeepers. Jason says there are now so many hives in New Zealand there are not enough floral resources to support them all.
