Yoson An’s career (Mulan, The Luminaries, Dead Lucky, Creamerie) has been steadily on the rise and impressively, he’s played a wide range of characters. But until now he’s never been a rom-com lead.
Sydney-set romantic comedy Five Blind Dates is now showing on Amazon Prime. It follows the character of Lia Ling who, with a traditional Chinese tea shop on the verge of closing down and a non-existent love life, follows a fortune teller’s advice to go on five blind dates to change her fate. All this in hopes of avoiding turning up to her sister’s wedding alone. An plays Lia’s former best friend Richard.
Macau-born and New Zealand-raised, An has acted alongside notable actors including Gerard Butler and Rachel Griffiths but says it’s important to be slightly detached; with casting decisions largely out of your control.
Off-screen, An balances his time between LA and Auckland and spent most of his time during last year’s Hollywood strike in Colorado writing and developing his own ideas.
