Locals move out as sea levels continue to rise

Scientists from the organisation NZ SeaRise have launched an online tool which shows you how movement of the land and climate change will affect sea-level rise. The map shows every 2km along our coastline and can predict sea level rise up until the year 2300. It is estimated we will witness it rise a total of 1.2 metres which is double than what was originally expected. Edel Walker sold her home in South Brighton, Christchurch two years ago due to rising sea levels which were causing her issues.

Nelson is bracing itself for the possibility of sea level rise of up to two metres.
