Slashing nicotine in cigarettes a smart move, says expert
A Government plan to slash nicotine in cigarettes is being lauded as smart, bold and realistic. A proposal released by Associate Minster of Health Ayesha Verrall includes reducing the amount of nicotine in cigarettes, restricting where they can be sold and creating a licensing regime. Joe Porter spoke to Otago University professor of public health Janet Hoek, who says the plan will give New Zealand a real shot at its smokefree goals.
