Tourism industry urged to train staff as immigration cut looms

From Morning Report, 7:52 am on 10 November 2017

Tourism leaders are being urged to step up and train more of their own workforce in the face of likely cut backs in the flow of workers from overseas. Tourism has become the country's top foreign exchange earner, surpassing dairy, and employs seven-point-five percent of the New Zealand workforce. The industry is frequently accused of being too dependent on a migrant, seasonal workforce, while locals are not encouraged to consider tourism as a career.
