Defence force sexual assault survivors speak out

From Morning Report, 7:38 am on 18 December 2017

Two women have waived their right to name suppression so they can speak out abut sexual abuse they suffered from men who were serving in the Defence Force. Former sailor Hayley Young is embroiled in legal action with the government for alleged failure to provide a safe working environment. Ms Young was raped while on deployment in the UK. Karina Andrews was abused by her father, a former air force sergeant who was jailed in 2015 for historic sexual offences. Ms Young and Mrs Andrews tell Susie Ferguson they are fighting to change the culture within the armed forces to protect other women.
