Hopes sea lion deaths will drop with Fisheries limit

From Morning Report, 7:41 am on 22 December 2017

The number of sea lions the fisheries industry is allowed to kill accidentally each year is being cut - from 68 to 38. The new limit is in the southern squid fishing plan, published yesterday by the Fisheries Minister, Stuart Nash. If more than 38 sea lion deaths are recorded then the squid fishery will be closed. The lower limit is being welcomed by Forest and Bird as a positive step forward. It's spokesman is Geoff Keey, he joins us to discuss.
