Motor Industry Association urges faulty airbag recall

Faulty airbags yesterday spurred Australia's federal government to issue a compulsory recall for nearly three million cars - the largest in the country's history. But New Zealand's Transport Agency is refusing to go down the same route. It's been nearly five years since it was first discovered airbags manufactured by the company Takata would sometimes blow up and fire shrapnel into the faces of drivers. But tens of thousands of cars in New Zealand are still being driven with those airbags installed. The Motor Industry Association's chief executive, David Crawford, tells us the recall is complex due to its size.
