Air Force staffer feared for her life near 'groper Roper'

From Morning Report, 7:28 am on 7 March 2018

A court has been told an Air Force staffer feared she'd be killed by a man nicknamed Groper Roper. The woman is suing the Crown for more than $1 million in damages at the High Court arguing the Air Force failed to act on complaints about the behaviour of Robert Richard Roper. Roper was jailed for 13 years in 2014 for sexual offending against five girls in the 1970s and 1980s. RNZ reporter Tom Furley was in the High Court in Auckland and said it was clearly an emotional experience for the woman to give evidence.
