NZ's first-known war dog to receive posthumous medal

The first known dog to serve New Zealand in war will be honoured at a ceremony at the National Army Museum in Waiouru today.

'Ceaser', a bulldog, will be posthumously awarded the Blue Cross medal for service and bravery during the First World War.

He started off as the official mascot in the New Zealand Rifle Brigade during the war.
