From Morning Report, 6:41 am on 31 July 2019

A Māori law specialist says Oranga Tamariki is at a crisis point and there needs to be urgent institutional change to allow Māori to be in charge of their own whānau.

Hundreds of protesters rallied at Parliament on Tuesday demanding the State stop taking Māori children.

They handed an open letter, signed by more than 17,000 people, to Green Party co-leader Marama Davidson.

Khylee Quince, who is an associate law professor at AUT, was the rally, and spoke to RNZ's Māni Dunlop.
