Is te reo Maori thriving in NZ's proposed bilingual towns?

Two years after bilingual towns were first proposed, Otaki is carving its own path to becoming reo rua, while other towns lag behind. The idea was put forward by the then-Maori affairs Minister Te Ururoa Flavell who approached the mayors of Otaki, Rotorua and Wairoa where there's a high percentage of te reo speakers. As we celebrate this year's Te Wiki o Te Reo, our reporter Meriana Johnsen hit the streets of Otaki to see if te reo really is a normal part of life there.
