New steps in the Pike River mine recovery

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 4 October 2019

Pike River families laid flowers and took small rocks as mementoes as they visited the seal to the mine for the first time yesterday. The Pike River Recovery Agency's chief operating officer says it took 20 months and a lot of hard work to get the families in. I spoke earlier to Dinghy Pattinson, the agency's chief operating officer. He told Corin Dann yesterday's visit by families went according to plan, and was an emotional day. Now the team will look to create a foam plug, pump out the nitrogen, and move further into the shaft, collecting evidence as they go.
