Refugee Behrouz Boochani arrives in NZ after six years on Manus Island

From Morning Report, 8:26 am on 15 November 2019

The Kurdish Iranian refugee who has spoken out for Manus Island detainees, Behrouz Boochani, has been welcomed to Christchurch.

He says for the moment he's just enjoying being a free man - and feeling the change of seasons after six years in a tropical climate.

Mr Boochani was sent to PNG's Manus Island in 2013, after arriving in Australian territory by boat. He was there up until two months ago when he was sent to Port Moresby.

He's in New Zealand to speak at a literary event in Christchurch.

Mr Boochani speaks to Kim Hill.
