Andrew Falloon scandal turns Rangitata voters to Labour

From Morning Report, 9:30 am on 18 October 2020

The rural electorate of Rangitata - which includes Ashburton, Methven, Timaru and Temuka - has swung red for the first time in its 12 year history. National's Andrew Falloon won the seat in 2017, but resigned in disgrace in July this year after multiple women complained that he had sent them inappropriate text messages. Last night Labour's Jo Luxton beat out the relatively unknown National candidate, Megan Hands, by 3,484 votes despite the electorate's strong blue roots. Jo Luxton speaks to Guyon Espiner.
