Asylum seekers may finally be resettled in Aotearoa

It's taken eight years, but Australia looks like it might finally be ready to send some of its asylum seekers to New Zealand.

Australia's Home Affairs Minister Karen Andrews is working with New Zealand to resettle asylum seekers who had been medically evacuated to Australia from its offshore detention centres.

New Zealand first made the offer in 2013 to resettle up to 150 refugees annually.

The offer has been repeatedly rebuffed.

Elizabeth Young from multiculture support services, Kiwiclass, has been part of efforts to get Australia to reconsider.
