Afghanistan: Dozens killed in Kabul Airport explosions

From Morning Report, 7:10 am on 27 August 2021

Two explosions just outside Kabul's overcrowded international airport have killed at least 60 people, with US soldiers and Afghan civilians including children among the victims.

More than 140 people have been injured.

The airport's Abbey Gate and a nearby hotel, where Western forces have been stationed, were targeted.

It's believed at least one of the blasts was a suicide bombing.

ISIS K is being blamed for the blasts.

BBC security correspondent Frank Gardner spoke to Morning Report.
