Mercury Energy is investigating the cause of a fire at one of its wind turbines on the Tararua Range near Palmerston North.
The fire, which set plumes of smoke into the sky near Aokautere, was left to burn overnight under the supervision of contractors.
Fire and emergency services were called to the site, but no people were near the turbine at the time of the incident and no injuries have beeen reported.
