Covid-19: Mayors on new housing density rules

From Morning Report, 7:40 am on 20 October 2021

While many mayors support the new Housing Supply Bill, some say it won't work without better infrastructure funding.

National and Labour have joined forces to design new housing density rules, which allow three houses, up to three storeys high, to be built without resource consent.

The new intensification rules could result in 100,000 new homes in the next eight years.

Porirua City Council Mayor Anita Baker, and Christchurch City Council Deputy Mayor Andrew Turner spoke to Susie Ferguson.
