A public health expert is warning managed isolation and quarantine hotels will be swamped with Omicron cases unless there are tougher rules to keep more people out.
There are 22 confirmed cases of the highly infectious variant in MIQ and none in the community.
Otago University Professor Michael Baker wants a temporary halt on people coming from countries with very high rates of Omicron.
