Figures out today are expected to show the annual inflation rate is nudging above 7 percent for the first time since 1990.
In response the Government is extending half-price fares on public transport and cuts to the fuel tax and Road User Charges until early next year.
Some warn it's a lot of money to spend on a policy that's not targeted at those who need help the most.
