Consumer NZ is telling big power companies they need to stop hiking prices.
Genesis, Meridian and Mercury have more than doubled their combined profits from the previous year - now totaling one point three billion dollars $1.35bn.
Meanwhile, power bills are expected to rise as much as 11 percent over the next few months.
