A Canterbury mother and son are pleading for better respite care and supported living for people with chronic, long-term mental illnesses.
Cody Te Poono, who has schizophrenia, is believed to have burned down the Ashburton family home in August, just days after he and his family begged Hillmorton Hospital staff to admit him.
