Green Party on travel ban imposed on 22 members of Iranian security forces

The government has imposed a travel ban on 22 senior members of the Iranian security forces connected to the death of Mahsa Amini.

The 22-year-old woman was killed in September after Iran's morality police arrested her for not wearing her hijab in accordance with government standards.

Jacinda Ardern says New Zealand will continue to respond, alongside international partners, to condemn violence and seek increased scrutiny on the events in Iran.

She also says this is an initial ban, and other officials could also face sanctions.

The Green Party's foreign affairs spokesperson, Kiwi-Iranian Golriz Ghahraman, spoke to Kim Hill.
