Auckland Council has announced it will provide funding for owners of Category 2P properties - meaning those requiring property-specific mitigation works, such as improving drainage or raising houses.
Homeowners will be able to claim up to 25 percent of their flood-affected property's capital value.
West Auckland is Flooding chair, Lyall Carter, says the news will reduce stress for many.
