The new government has begun the process of disestablishing Te Pūkenga.
The Minister for Tertiary Education sent a letter of expectations to the organisation on Thursday, stating it is no longer a government priority to centralise delivery of vocational training and education.
The letter asked Te Pūkenga to review whether its large number of new, national roles are appropriate, creating uncertainty for hundreds of staff.
