Willie Jackson on Newshub closure

Newshub bosses did not ask the government for any financial assistance before they announced a proposal to shut down their news production.

As many as 300 staff members will lose their jobs by the end of June if the proposal goes ahead.

The company reported a $34 million loss for 2022, and Warner Brothers Discovery NZ boss Glen Kyne says that trajectory wasn't sustainable.

Broadcasting Minister Melissa Lee declined our request for an interview.
