On Sunday, a staff member at the Western Springs Caltex was threatened with a hammer as a group robbed the store.
The owner says it's the eighth robbery across his 11 stores since January.
The Motor Trade Association says if nothing changes, stores are headed for measures like inch-thick steel bars to protect staff.
