An Auckland University professor says the devil will be in the detail for the gang patch legislation, expected to be introduced to Parliament on Thursday.
Auckland University associate professor Carrie Leonetti is waiting impatiently to see the text, and particularly how the government defines "insignia".
She says over-defining the term could step heavily on personal freedoms, while under-defining could render it ineffective.
