While environmental groups are crying foul over the Government's Fast Track Approval bill, it has received a support across a range of industries.
The legislation, which passed its first reading on Thursday, will give the Government powers to bypass the consent process and approve special infrastructure projects quickly under a 'one-stop-shop' scheme.
The Employers and Manufacturers Association says the existing regime for consents was behind the country's clogged motorways, housing crisis and overcrowded hospitals.
Mining and Transport groups have also expressed support.
Another industry set to benefit is aquaculture.
