At the weekend, tens-of-thousands of New Zealanders supported their local growers at the country's 25-or-so Farmers Markets.
The markets, which comprise more than 1000 small food businesses, have rules ensuring the bulk of the meat and produce is locally grown.
They're in the middle of their National Farmers Market Week with celebrations and competitions such as feijoa eating, focaccia art, and an autumn produce scavenger hunt.
