Special Counsel behind Biden report speaks at hearing

From Morning Report, 6:08 am on 13 March 2024

The US special counsel who released a scathing report last month suggesting President Biden had a "poor memory" has spoken at a congressional hearing.

Robert Hur - originally a Republican appointee - had said his report was "neccessary, accurate and fair" after Mr Biden criticised his findings and insisted his memory was fine.

Hur was investigating classified documents found at the president's home.

He said Biden appeared to have no memory of how they got there, further increasing concern about his age as we head towards November's election.

Lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have been directing searing questions to the Special Counsel this morning.

Washington DC correspondent Caroline Malone spoke to Ingrid Hipkiss.
