The government's being told its proposed new taxes on electric vehicles are far too high.
It wants to charge up to $70 per thousand kilometres driven and those who've rushed to make submissions to a select committee are not impressed.
The motor industry and consumers are pushing back against what they describe as the 'penalty on a plug'.
