Meteorite hunters found Aotearoa's 10th chunk of space rock just south of Lake Tekapo on Thursday.
The fireball was seen entering Earth's atmosphere at a speed of 50 to 60 kilometres per second on the 13th of March.
It took the two-dozen searchers less than one hour to find and it's now off to Otago University for further testing to make sure it is from outer space.
