1.15 The Winners of the Pacific Music Awards 2022 

After two years of being held virtually, the Pacific Music Awards returned to a live audience at the sold-out Vodafone Events Centre in Manukau, Auckland on Thursday. 
The awards were a celebration of upcoming and established Pasifika artists, with a total of 26 finalists - nine of whom were first-time nominees.

1.35  Murdoch Riley RIP - Chris Bourke   

Last Sunday a very important figure of the NZ Music industry died, Murdoch Riley - aged 95.

Murdoch Riley was the music programmer for New Zealand Broadcasting Service from the mid 40s to the mid 50s – He then went onto create VIKING RECORDS - one of the most prolific NZ Owned labels of all time.

Chris Bourke from Audio Culture talks to Charlotte Ryan about Murdoch’s legacy.

2pm Archie Roach Live at Womad 

Archie Roach was a First Nations, indigenous Australian and one of the ‘Stolen Generation’ - Aboriginal children forcibly taken from their families by the Australian government.
He grew up in foster homes and later lived on the streets, before recording his first album Charcoal Lane, produced by Paul Kelly.
Archie died last week on the 30th of July at age 66 after a long illness. We play a live recording from his powerful 2017 WOMAD performance.

3.30 Dave Bennett from Save Dunedin Live Music

National music venue advocacy organisation Save Our Venues has added its voice to those worried about the future of Dunedin music venue The Crown Hotel.

The historic venue’s ability to host live music hangs in the balance after a recent decision by Dunedin City Council to grant resource consent to a residential development on a neighbouring property. 

Charlotte Ryan talks to the organiser of the Save Our Venues- Crown Hotel March happening this Sunday 7th August in the Octagon in Dunedin.

Bill Brewster has been involved in the UK music industry since the 1980s, as a musician, DJ, and journalist, and co-authored the definitive history of DJing Last Night a DJ Saved My Life, which has just been revised for 2022.
