For their fifth long player, Magnifique, Brooklyn-based instrumentalists Ratatat went back to basics, swotting up on the licks of Queen’s resident astrophysicist, Dr Brian May, and a little known project from British multi-instrumentalist Phil Cordell, who performed under names like Springwater, Dan the Banjo Man and Prodigal throughout the 1970s.
