There seems to be no end in sight for New Zealand's egg shortage with experts the industry say it could be months until things return to normal So could backyard Chickens be the answer? Even the suggestion has the SPCA warning that chickens are not just egg machines and they need proper long-term care. And their upkeep isn't cheap. Dr. Andrea Graves, who has written a book on how to keep happy hens and is an expert in animal behaviour, talks to Karyn about the commitment of raising chickens.
