Current forestry practices 'suboptimal': land use report

The urgency of transitioning to more sustainable and climate-aligned forestry practices is being highlighted in a new report on land use by the Policy Observatory at AUT. It argues the current approach to rural land use isn't integrated enough and will create long term economic and environmental burdens. What's at stake has already been brought into sharp focus twice this year with extreme weather events in the East Cape and Tasman.
