Mental health pilot helping university students

From Nine To Noon, 9:38 am on 24 October 2018

A mental health pilot running at Auckland University is providing early intervention for students needing help with stress.

The programme Te Tumu Waiora, is being implemented at five primary care practices in Auckland, including the University.

Since December last year, more than half the students who disclose distress have had same day follow-ups with a psychologist to discuss what is troubling them.

Janice Brown is the head doctor at student health across the University's three campuses.
