As New Zealand moves on significant gun law reform there are warnings that gun control across the Tasman is being circumvented by a powerful gun lobby which is quietly undermining laws introduced after the Port Arthur massacre in 1996.

An investigation, compiled by the progressive think tank, The Australia Institute, found that Australia's gun lobby is as large and spends as much on political donations and campaigns, per capita, as America's influential NRA.

Lynn Freeman discusses the main strategies employed by Australia's gun lobby  with the report's author, Bill Browne.
