Furnicycle helps furnish student flats

From Nine To Noon, 9:36 am on 9 September 2019

A Furnicycle scheme adopted by the University of Waikato means large amounts of excess furniture, potentially destined for landfill, are now available for students and charities to take away for free.

The likes of tables, chairs, whiteboards, and carpet are up for grabs. Waikato University's Sustainablity Manager, Rachael Goddard says the items are listed on a cloud based tool called warp-it.The resource redistribution network is already used by more than half of the UK's universities and a few in Australia too.
