Giesen wines in Marlborough has launched what it says is the world's first alcohol-removed Marlbourough Sauvignon Blanc, hoping to cash-in on a  global trend.

Last yearn a report by the British food and drinks consultancy Zenith predicted global sale of zero alcohol drinks to grow by 10 per cent each year over the next five years.

Giesen winemaker Nikolai St George says the zero-alcohol Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc goes through the same winemaking process as the full-strength variety, then a high tech spinning cone technology separates out the alcohol.
